In 2000, MiniMode teamed up with famed Gene
repaint artist, Katharine Rayland and Marsha Olson from The
Right Hatmosphere to create an OOAK doll for auction at the
Belmont Ball. The doll was
inspired by Maria Calla's "Tosca," a role she was perhaps
most famous for.
For the transformation, the 20" Robert Tonner
model required a miniature version of the early 19th
century-styled parure that consisted of an elaborate 5
strand necklace, earrings and tiara. MiniMode researched
many books, videos and pictures so that the jewelry could be
reproduced as closely to the original as possible. After
over 40 hours of work, the final result was an ensemble made
with genuine garnets, 24kt-plated glass seed beads,
gold-filled wire and 4 different styles of gold-filled
chain. |
